i hope you all are exhilarated to see that i have finally decided to post something due to a sudden burst of inspiration. and also due to certain ppl's lamentations that i have not been keeping my blog healthy and alive. o.0 i shall put it in point form, because i jsut happen to feel a need to be organized today.
1. i spent the first day of 2009 on the plane. and its not very enjoyable when you are afraid of heights. arizona's a nice place, but it is WAY too cold and dry, i was feeling sick the whole time i was there. it was a great experience nevertheless, i spent most of time awing at the other (other category) contestants. yeah anyway, i got 4th.
2. 311'09<333!(: i think that you all are the awesome-est people in the world!(: haha moi being your lovely secretary (for the third year running o.0) will try my best to keep the attendance stuff neat and tidy and to always rmber to run up and down with the register! ahem TRY.
3. i think all my teachers are really not that bad this year. i got ms tan for chem RA (now i know that you can get a reputation for being the fiercest yet nicest teacher). i cant believe thats the most slack subject so far o.0 i dont recall doing any hw for that. ms ning for physics (a teeny bit err lame but still pretty okay), mrs prama for bio, mrs chew for math ra (ahemphew!ahem, she teaches really well) and...i shall not go on.
4. i lost my phone on the bus on the way to the SMP talk, which happened to be extremely boring so much so that the people around me were all dozing off while the speaker was still animatedly delivering his speech-.- anw, i will have to get a new one soon.
5. lessons at yst have resumed! dr hech'ts lessons are still as inspiring as usual(: and ms hahn came back to visit! and she loaned us her nice puddy (the dough-like thing thats supposed to make you feel the bottom of the keys more) again! oh yeah i got my new nus card! which entitles me to 20% me off subway at nus(: but i must say the picture is hideously disproportioned. the picture, not my face:P
6. i am sick of the SIMO and theory lesson clashing thing. frantically waiting for buses and running around the NUS campus is not good for my health. (ok maybe it helps me exercise) i think i'll just go for half of each every time. haiz.
7. i just got my wonderful first booking. i dont know how in the world i didnt hear my alarm clock ringing, or maybe i woke up and smashed it until it stopped ringing.
8. i finger is bleeding because of badminton. a huge chunk of skin came off and now i cant bend or stretch my finger properly. this is NOT good. at all.
9. liverpool is gonna top the table. i dont care.
10. angbao money's decreasing every year. great example of financial crisis taking its toll.
11. i think this is my longest blogpost so far. not bad(:
12. oh yeah. june, huiyi and i were playing with microsoft word when we were supposed to be completing our mep PT. basically we wrote something and replaced every word with one from the 'synonyms' that microsoft came up with.

IWYMIC08As seen from the title, this post will be entirely dedicated to stuff IMC. And I shall not be the last person to post something about it (: I shall give a recount of either the interesting, retarded or funny things that happened (and pray that my memory will not fail me)
Basically, I went for the IWYMIC08 held in Chiangmai, Thailand from 25th-31st October. This is the second time I’m going for this competition. I agree with Barry, this time it was definitely more fun than last year’s. Last year saw me trying to put on my best behavior in front of the host family and we didn’t get to do random stuff. So yeah…
Reaching Chiangmai
Nothing much happened on the first day except the plane flight. Basically, we took off to Bangkok at about 12 pm, and the four hour transit there was mostly spent wandering aimlessly around the airport, window-shopping, looking at mengshi splurge on books, playing truth or truth and cards. Oh, just when we were about to board the plane to chiangmai, this South Korean guy spotted me and went ‘hey I know you’. So, I gave him my most brilliant and knowing smile….
The hotel was fine, pretty good for a three-star actually. It was damn hilarious when Fangying and Mengshi got a double bed room at first. The prospect of them sleeping on one bed amuses me greatly (:

I am completely sick of cards now, after playing what 100000 games of bridge, taiti, donkey number 1-10, and other “lame games”. I swear, I’ll puke if I see another deck of cards. Oh, there was this one game where Mengshi and I could have played 7 No Trump!! Which means we won all the tricks. *laughs with glee*

Night Market
The night market was interesting though. Seriously, I think shopping in Thailand is much better than shopping in Singapore.
7: Ms Ha says, ‘We will meet at the temple at the end of the street at 8.30 sharp!’
7-8.15: Shops around for random stuff.
8.15-8.20: Decides to be guai and wait at the first temple I saw. Let’s call this Temple #1. I assumed that was the one.
8.21: Sees no one and decides that this was the wrong one. I went on to Temple #2.
8.22: Same pattern, now Temple #3.
…….
8.29: Temple #10
8.30: I decided this was too much and asked someone if there were any more temples along the street. She says: ‘I think you go right, you will see a few more temples, then one big temple, surrounded by about 6 little temples.’ I felt…o.0! The rain did not help at all either.
Oh yeah, I sortof fell sick): it wasn’t serious or anything though. Thank you to all who took care of me and especially fangying who insisted I take panadol every four hours, take a really hot bath and said it wasn't hot enough even though it was scalding my skin (:
OH WAIT I completely forgot about the competition. Which is supposedly the main purpose of the trip,…right? xD well, anyway we did much better than last year. Congrats to the ’08 teams and good luck for the ’09 teams in South Africa!! (:
I shall stop my randoming right now and prepare for chem RA selection test and duet concert rehearsal tomorrow!! Argh. For everyone’s information, there will be a duet concert this Thursday at YST Concert Hall. I’ll be playing a 6 Hands Rachmaninov Romance with Dr Hecht and 4 Hands Italian Polka with Jonshin. That's all.

ahh for the first time in eons i shall update(: *shouts**cheers**standing ovation* what a great way to celebrate the 2-month anniversary of the hiatus...xD
ok im doing this before theory lessons at yst so i better hurry up. ohyeah talking about that, we're doing modified bach chorale project now! its basically this thing where u can modify some of the basic elements of music of a bach chorale, and make it into ur own. quite cool, except mine sounds...bizarre to say the least(:
oh and...eoy's over!! wait not yet, still two more math papers to go. the other papers were ok i think, or i hope. i cant wait till all the papers are over and i can go back to my usual habits of lazing around (or sleeping if u prefer)
october is officially the choked-full-of-stuff-to-do month. ahhh. eoys over, but now i have to prepare for the Piano Extravaganza Concert this coming tuesday! its at yst concert hall at 7.30, and everyone's welcome to come! i'll be playing chopin Fantasy on Polish Airs op13, which is a supersuper nice piece with probably all the highlights of chopin's sonatas, concertos and other pieces(: oh and its a concerto concert in preparation for the concerto competition at yst (which i cant make it for cos i'll in thailand!! ahh). and theres gonna be dress rehearsals on both sunday and monday. i better start practising and rehearsing like siao(:
and right after that we'll be having a 7-DAY intensive training for the thailand competition. i wonder if the last-minute mugging will help at all...
ohh right yesterday i watched "connected" yesterday! its damn nice, u (yes u) should go watch it! the plot is exciting and suspenseful, and hilarious at the same time (and theres this hot guy inside><)... the same day i was wandering around this jewellery shop and i saw this young girl having her ears pierced. FOUR times on each ear. i told myself not to look but i think i just ended up staring with my mouth open. i admire her bravery man...

Germany was such an enriching and fun experience! As Dr Hecht said, competitions give us a chance to meet datelines, build up repertoire and play with other people in an international setting, so I shall be glad I was even given a chance to participate. Ok lots of interesting details which I’ll specify in my next post (which hopefully is sometime soon=D)
Sad thing is, I’ve been gone for 10 days, and I missed 4 major exams, the Olympic opening ceremony and the National Day Celebration. Ok not really the Olympic one I sort of watched it in the hotel there(: hehe. Omg a lot of exciting things are happening now, premier league started already! Ok BUT for the next few days I have to work hard to make up for my exams. SIGH.
